ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you how impressed I was at at the thoroughness of your research - extending the family history back two more generations and discovering other cousins. I always wondered if Wolf Gutman and Frieda Gutman were kin and you have answered it.
It was also interesting to me to see the translation of David Gutman's occupation in 1860 as "assistant to teacher in a Jewish school". That is not quite as impressive as "teacher" from the 1844 record.
It was also interesting to see the word "Cleric" used as the occupation for Wolf Gutman. I wonder why that word was chosen and what the meaning was.

It is also curious that your great great great grandfather and the President of the United States have the same first name. But no kinship is implied of course.
